Catcher in the Rye. I had to do a required reading once, and I admit I expected this book to be quite boring. However, I was proven wrong very fast. The book takes place in a course of 3 days, and a lot of readers find it to be boring, but I thought it was eye-opening. Starting off strong with the good points, the book is very raw and natural. It points out the fake, phony behavior of the adult world. One interesting point is that is book doesn't have a "good guy/bad guy" trope. The MC is as problematic as all the other characters, and in their own ways, they each have their own struggles in their own way. The book captures the immense, intense feelings of loneliness, confusion, and the fear of growing up. Honestly, I really liked the MC Holden, since I love books where the narrator has a realistic personality. As for the criticisms, a lot of people actually dislike Holden because of his raw personality, the way, he complains, and how "annoying" he is. I guess ...
