A: It got fired!

Today's book is...
Oasis ⋆。°✩
₍ᐢ. .ᐢ₎ The genre of Oasis is a YA thriller or a supernatural mystery. This novel centers on teens stranded in a mysterious desert oasis that seems to heal them—at first. It’s compelling for its blend of survival drama, psychological tension, and supernatural twists.
The book has an atmospheric, slow-burn build-up that pulls you in with its sense of isolation and impending danger. The desert setting is key to the eerie vibe of the novel, with its hot, barren landscape almost becoming a character in itself. The characters are a bit of a mixed bag—some are likable, while others may feel more archetypal, but they’re all caught in this strange situation that brings out their vulnerabilities.
What I really liked was the suspense. The author does a great job of keeping you on edge, making you question what’s really happening versus what the characters believe is happening. There’s a mystery at the core of the book, but it’s more about the atmosphere and the questions raised than about a typical action-packed plot.
That being said, the pacing was indeed a little bit slow. The first half is definitely more about the mood and feeling, if you know what I mean.
Here's a little sneak peek!
🍵⋆。°🍡°⋆. ࿔*:・
Alif had exciting summer plans: working on her father's archaeological dig site in the desert with four close friends...and a very cute research assistant. Then the sandstorm hit.
With their camp wiped away, Alif and the others find themselves lost in the sands, seemingly doomed, until they discover the oasis. It has everything they need: water shade--and mysterious ruins that hide a deadly secret. As reality begins to shift around them, they question what's real and what's a mirage.
The answers turn Alif and her friends against one another, and they begin to wonder if they've truly been saved. And while it was easy to walk into the oasis, it may be impossible to leave...

So, what did you think of that? Pretty interesting if your go-to genre is YA thriller, right?
What I loved a lot was:
✮⋆˙Vivid desert setting and mounting suspense
✮⋆˙Complex teen relationships that add emotional depth
✮⋆˙Eerie, unpredictable turns that keep the pages flying
I was literally on the edge of my chair when reading this book, trust me. However, there are a couple of things that weren't so great.
꩜ Slow pacing
꩜ Underdeveloped characters
That being said, overall this book was awesome! There's lots of feelings and emotions, and the perfect balance of plot twists and subplots. Personally, I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5.
